The Passion
Artchiefs believes every handbag and accessory is a piece of art. Art and fashion have always gone hand and hand. Great art inspires fashion and through fashion, we are able to express our individuality. People’s choice of what they wear (daily) is their artistic expression of who they are (at that moment) and who they want to be. Fashionable art is a way to express this unique individuality.
At Artchiefs, we pride ourselves on four pillars of quality: materials, product, process, and experience. Our mission is to provide unique limited-run handbags and accessories, as well as customized events in which you experience the beautiful art of creating handbags first hand.
The Story
My name is Yotam, the creative lead and owner of Artchiefs, bringing over two decades of experience in the fashion industry. I attended the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) from 1997 to 1999, majoring in Accessory Design. Following graduation, I worked in the Accessory Department at FIT. It was during this time that I immersed myself in the NYC fashion industry, working hand in hand with dozens of aspiring designers and artists to develop and bring their visions to life. Surrounded by such a plethora of creativity, I learned to master my skills in pattern making, sewing, and construction. I developed a love for the artistic and creative aspects of fashion and the ability to express a mood, a feeling, or a veneer through this art form.
Many times, I have found myself choosing what to wear as a way of self-expression and happiness. This joy did not stop with me, but also influenced the mood of all those around me. Since I have always wanted to create art over fashion, I made the difficult decision of declining a teaching position in the Accessory Departments of FIT. I moved to the North Shore of Boston to continue my artistic quest founding Artchiefs.
The Method
I love the process of making handbags, shoes, handkerchiefs, and a variety of accessories. More specifically, I enjoy the process of taking a vision of an accessory, a 3D vision, and creating a 2D pattern that will end up a fully functional accessory, bringing the vision of the product to life. The care in the details from start to finish not only makes Artchiefs unique but brings me true joy. I am able to create limited runs and one-of-a-kind handbags for a truly unique expression. All of my products are designed and made in the USA.
