The Passion
Artchiefs believes every handbag and accessory is a piece of art. Art and fashion have always gone hand and hand. Great art inspires fashion and from fashion, we get to express our individuality. A person’s choice of what they wear daily is their artistic expression of who they are at that moment. Fashionable art is a way to express this unique individuality. We pride ourselves on four pillars of quality: materials, product, process, and experience. Our mission is to provide unique limited-run handbags and accessories, as well as limited events in which you experience the beautiful art of creating handbags first hand.
The Story
My name is Yotam and I attended the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) from 1997 to 1999, majoring in Accessory Design. Following graduation, I worked in the fashion industry in NYC. In addition, I worked in the Accessory Department at FIT from 1999-2004. It was there that I worked hand in hand with dozens of aspiring designers and artists to develop and bring their visions to life. Surrounded by such a plethora of creativity I learned to master my skills in pattern making, sewing, and construction. It was during this time that I found that what I love about fashion are art and creativity. The ability to self-express a mood, a feeling, or a veneer. Many times, I found myself choosing what to wear as a way of self-expression and happiness and I found that this joy did not stop with me, but also influenced the mood of all those around me. I have always wanted to create art before fashion so, after the difficult choice of turning down a teaching position in the Accessory Departments of FIT, I continued my quest leading me to the birth of Artchiefs.
The Method
I love the process of making handbags, shoes, handkerchiefs, and a variety of accessories. I design and make all of my products in the USA. I enjoy the process of taking a vision of an accessory, a 3D vision, and creating the 2D pattern that will end up a fully made accessory, bringing the vision of the product to life. The care in the details from start to finish is not only what makes Artchiefs unique but what brings me true joy. This allows me to create limited runs and one-of-a-kind handbags for a truly unique expression.
